To answer a few questions..
Where do you find the majority of your teaching resources?
I am a Title I Reading Specialist. Our district has implemented the balanced literacy model and so I get a large amount of resources directly through the Fountas and Pinnell kit and online access. I also frequent Pinterest, Teachers Pay Teachers, Twitter (my educational account), and Google for teaching ideas and resources. A new find for me is Discovery Education- our district is implementing a 1:1 this year with the service and surface pro's, and so I will be accessing this often.
Who do you look to for support and research for new ideas?
I seek support from my coworkers, my EDIM classmates and professors, Twitter followers or educational Twitter chats, our technology department for help with Discovery Education, and my students- I like to give them several surveys to find what interests them.
What challenges do you face as you try to incorporate new ideas and research with your students?
My biggest challenge is the fact that my classes are only 30 minutes per day in length. I focus heavily on the comprehension aspect of reading instruction, and so there is not a whole lot of extra time to incorporate new ideas or implement technology. Additionally, my classes are only 4-5 students each and so large/ whole-group-required technology endeavors generally do not work well in my classroom.
